The Journey from Polarity to Unity
The world we live in is a world of polarity. There is good and bad, right and wrong, day and night, active and passive, light and dark, etc. Everything that exists has its contrary or opposite.
The meditative journey leads us to a place of unity. Opposites cease to exist, shadows are integrated and everything that is, has a right to be there. This can also be called the enlightened state, which is described as a state where ‘one experiences total harmony with the moment and there is no complaint about anything.’
In practical terms, this means that in order to become enlightened one has to stop judging. Judgment keeps us imprisoned in the world of polarity. Judgment also requires an opponent, something or someone to push against. We can see this clearly in the world of politics.
Pushing against an opponent requires a lot of energy, struggle and resources. The sense of being right is enforced if someone is part of a group effort that together pushes against something or someone. A group may feel as one, convinced of being right, but the moment the opponent is gone the group either falls apart or quickly finds a new opponent.
A solution will never emerge from a place of polarity, but only from a place of unity, a place beyond struggle, beyond the conflicts of this world. It’s an inner space, which requires gentle and careful cultivation. It’s a place that is always there, within you!
I invite you to begin shifting your perception of reality from the viewpoint of polarity toward the all-inclusive perception of unity. It’s a journey into your inner self, into the deep knowing of who you are, the part of you that exists beyond time and space, beyond this physical realm. The first step is to pay attention to your thoughts. You will notice that every event in your life or encounter with another person is evaluated by you. There are immediate responses. You judge if you like a person or not, or if an event is good or bad for you.
Whatever it is that you focus upon you will receive more of. You are in charge of which direction you choose.
For example, negative thought patterns create more negative thought patterns. Every single thought that enters your mind creates reality. Sooner or later you will see the results of your thinking in the physical realm. You can easily imagine where this negative thinking is going to take you. Should you envision worst-case scenarios, please take a break and focus on something different.
Another important consideration is that the initial negative judgment you have about a situation or person is oftentimes difficult to reverse, especially if it is reenforced by group consciousness.
Emotions of anger, guilt, fear, worry, despair and shame are typical when you perceive reality through the eyes of polarity. According to holistic medicine the emotions for fear, anger and worry create the greatest havoc in our bodies. Therefore, in holistic healing, nurturing good thoughts is always the first step toward health and well-being.
In order to return to a place of harmony, balance and inner peace, you must learn to cultivate good thoughts and consciously direct them to the experience you wish for. Athletes do this when they envision holding the gold medal. Guided imagery is part of their training. Why wouldn’t you use the same tools to have a great day or a great life? Plant the seeds for good future memories now and enjoy the journey every day.
How will you know if you have transcended polarity and experience unity? You will know when you feel emotions of love, trust, peace, a wholehearted-Yes, ease and being in the flow.
Please make it a habit to check in with yourself. Check your emotions. See if you perceive the world through the eyes of polarity or unity.
If you are not in a place of unity, practice the meditations on my YouTube channel or the 2-minute positive affirmations in the Evolving Consciousness or Peaceful Awakening, so you may instantly shift how you are perceiving your reality.
